Mike Pulsifer is an executive with more than 20 years of information technology experience. He serves as the Branch Chief of Platform as a Service at the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) in the Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO).
Pulsifer is responsible for the Division’s application development in SharePoint Online and iOS. He also directs mobile device management, as well as development and support for the ServiceNow, Salesforce and data analytics platforms.
Prior to serving as Branch Chief, Pulsifer was a Lead IT Specialist for the Office of Public Affairs at the U.S. Department of Labor. His responsibilities included managing web and mobile application development, and public-facing open source application program interfaces (API). Additional responsibilities included directing citizen-facing mobile efforts at DOL and representing the Department on multiple interagency workgroups, including mobile development, mobile UX, open source, and API management.
Pulsifer launched DOL’s public API, giving developers easy access to DOL’s open data datasets. The developer site has been one of the leading developer offerings in the Federal government by including not just an API, but software development kits (SDKs) in eight programming languages. The public API also offers sample code, and other resources and tools to help developers of all skill levels access and use DOL’s data. The API currently serves more than 200 datasets. The eighth SDK, written in Swift, was released less than a month after the language was publicly announced.
Pulsifer specializes in web technologies, mobile app design and development, open data, and UX. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania. He holds a Kanban Management Professional certification.
